St Clement Danes, The Strand, London
Since the rebuilding in 1957, we have been custodians of this historic Wren church.
Designed by Christopher Wren, with a steeple added by Gibbs, this City church was destroyed in the blitz. It was rebuilt in 1957 as the central church of the RAF under the direction of Sam Lloyd and his father, predecessor partners of this firm. Charles Sheppard has been the architect looking after the church since 1981 and is now the Honorary Architect to the RAF trustees. Over the years many works have been carried out including stone restoration, floodlighting and redecoration. The church is Grade I listed and one of Wren’s finest. It has been meticulously restored with beautiful attention to detail throughout.
